Soft tissue chondroma

Soft tissue chondroma

Clinical features

Soft tissue chondromas are uncommon tumors that arise most often in middle-aged adults, showing a slight male predominance and typically occurring on the hands or feet.1โ€“4 Children may be rarely affected.5โ€“9 A case of trigger finger caused by a soft tissue chondroma has been described.10 True cutaneous tumors may occur.11โ€“12

Rare cases develop on the face including lip, neck, oral cavity, scalp and popliteal region.13โ€“18 Exceptional familial cases may occur.19 A collision tumor (chondroma- neurofibroma) has been described in the gluteal region.20

Distinction from a benign mixed tumor of adnexal origin is easy because the latter always shows epithelial elements.
