Capillary hemangioma
Capillary hemangioma
Clinical features Conjunctival capillary hemangioma is similar to its cutaneous counterpart. It presents in infancy as a red stromal mass, and may be associated with capillary hemangioma of the skin or orbit. The lesion may enlarge over several months and spontaneously involute. Patients are most often observed, but surgical resection or local or systemic prednisone can be used for treatment.1
Histologic features Leukemia cells are present in the substantia propria, may be diffuse or patchy, and tend to localize around blood vessels.2,5 It is thought that there may be higher concentrations of adhesion molecules present in the endothelial cells of arterioles and capillaries in the conjunctival stroma.
