Adenoid and pseudopapillary melanoma

Adenoid and pseudopapillary melanoma

This rare variant shows considerable overlap with myxoid melanoma. Primary or metastatic deposits show extreme discohesion such that pseudoglandular spaces sometimes with papillary architecture are formed and sometimes these can be filled with mucin.1,2 Occasionally โ€˜intraluminalโ€™ papillary processes and โ€˜mucinโ€™-filled lakes are formed, heightening the resemblance to adenocarcinoma.3 A possibly related form has been described as discohesive melanoma.4,5 In the latter, melanomas showed striking discohesion of cells both in the intraepidermal and invasive component closely mimicking an acantholytic disease.
