Vulvodynia
Vulvodynia
Vulvodynia is a clinical, and not a histologic, diagnosis. Biopsy is unhelpful. It is defined as โvulval pain in the absence of relevant, visible physical findings, or a specific clinically identifiable neurological disorderโ.1 It is a sensory, neuropathic disorder and can be localized and provoked or generalized and spontaneous. Some patients may have an overlap of both types.

cysts or the contents of cystically dilated eccrine ducts.15โ21 It has also been suggested that the condition can result from dartos muscle degeneration, or cyst wall apoptosis.22,23 Scrotal calcinosis is characterized by single or multiple dermal nodules of dystrophic calcification (Fig. 12.149). In some cases, there is histologic evidence of a preexisting and partially destroyed cyst.
